No automatic April jump

Does Lebara Raise Prices Every April? Its Pricing Policy Explained

Lebara says its SIM-only plans have no annual or mid-contract price rises. That is good news, but it does not freeze every rate, allowance and future offer forever.

The useful answer

No, Lebara does not apply a routine annual April rise to SIM-only plans

Lebara's current price-rise page says its SIM-only plans have no annual or mid-contract price rises. It also says it has not raised the prices of those plans since 2020.1

That is different from a contract containing a pre-written increase every spring. There is no April escalator to add to your plan price while you are halfway through the agreed term.

One sentence to remember: no annual price rise means no scheduled yearly jump in the SIM-only plan price. It does not mean every Lebara charge is preserved in amber.

If you are choosing a plan now, open the current referral offer and check the introductory price, normal renewal price and plan length before paying.

The monthly SIM-only plan avoids the familiar spring escalator. A few separate rates sit outside that promise.

Read the promise literally

What Lebara's no-price-rise policy covers

Lebara states that there are no annual price rises for its SIM-only plans. Its home page repeats the point and describes the rolling range as 30-day plans that customers can change or cancel.12

  • No automatic annual upliftThe plan price is not scheduled to rise each April merely because another year has arrived.
  • No advertised mid-contract hikeLebara's promise also covers a price rise partway through the agreed SIM-only term.
  • No inflation formulaYou do not need to calculate CPI plus a mystery percentage before breakfast.
  • The normal renewal price still mattersAn introductory discount ending is not an annual price rise. It is the offer returning to the price shown when you joined.

That last distinction catches people out. If a £10 plan is discounted to £5 for the first few months and then renews at £10, the later £10 charge is the advertised post-offer price. It is not an April increase.

The asterisk has a job

What can still change?

Lebara's own disclaimer excludes prices or allowances for international minutes, roaming and pay-as-you-go rates. It says these may vary from time to time.1

International rates

Destinations, minute allowances or out-of-plan charges can change outside the core plan-price promise.

Roaming

Included countries, fair-use limits and charges outside the included zone can be revised.

Pay as you go

Standard PAYG rates are separate from the monthly price of a SIM-only plan.

Future offers and plan menus can change too. Lebara can introduce a different plan for new buyers without rewriting the price of a service you have already purchased. The sensible check is your own plan, not a screenshot from a deal forum that has been ageing in public.

Marketing claim, meet contract wording

Lebara's terms allow changes, with protections

Lebara's general terms say it can change its agreement, including charges, after giving notice. The same terms say a change to charges will not apply to products or services already purchased.6

The terms also say that for changes which are not solely beneficial, administrative without a negative effect, or imposed by law, Lebara will give 30 days' notice and customers may terminate before the change takes effect.6

This is why the accurate answer is more useful than the absolute one. Lebara currently promises no annual or mid-contract rises for SIM-only plans. Its broader contract still explains how other changes can be made and notified.

Thirty days at a time

What the policy means on a rolling plan

Lebara describes its rolling plans as 30-day plans that can be changed or cancelled.2 You are not locked into a year-long minimum term, so your practical protection is flexibility as well as the no-annual-rise promise.

  1. Check the first payment.Make sure the referral or introductory price appears before you buy.
  2. Note the normal renewal price. This is the amount due after the discount ends, assuming you keep the same plan.
  3. Read any notice from Lebara.Do not assume every message is marketing. A rate or term change may need action.
  4. Compare before the next renewal. If the value no longer suits you, change plan, cancel auto-renew or switch provider in time.

A rolling plan is not a lifetime tariff deed. It gives you short commitment periods and an easy exit, which is often more useful than trying to predict what any mobile company will sell years from now.

Longer commitment, same headline promise

What about a 12-month Lebara plan?

Lebara's no-price-rise wording covers SIM-only plans and explicitly mentions no mid-contract price rises.1 For a 12-month plan, that means the advertised core monthly plan price should not receive a scheduled rise during the minimum term.

You should still read the order summary. A discount period can end within those 12 months, and the checkout should show what follows. Leaving a 12-month plan early can also trigger an early termination charge under Lebara's general terms.6

Do not mix up two clocks: the promotional clock tells you when an introductory discount ends. The contract clock tells you how long you have agreed to stay. Neither is an automatic April price rise.

You can compare the live 30-day and 12-month options before deciding whether a longer commitment earns its keep.

If your bill looks different

Work out what changed before reaching for the pitchfork

  1. Compare the amount with your order confirmation.Look for the introductory period and the normal renewal price.
  2. Check your current plan in MyLebara.Confirm the plan name, allowance, renewal date and any add-ons.
  3. Read recent emails and texts.Lebara's terms provide for notice when relevant terms or charges change.
  4. Separate the core plan from other use.Roaming, international calls, PAYG use and premium services may follow different rates.
  5. Contact Lebara with specifics.Quote the old amount, new amount and exact line item rather than simply reporting that the bill has gone funny.

If Lebara announces a change that affects you, judge it against the notice and your terms. The general terms say certain changes come with 30 days' notice and an opportunity to terminate before implementation.6

Compare the whole bill

Why "no April rises" is useful, but not the only number

Ofcom requires providers to show any contractual mid-term price rise in pounds and pence before a customer signs up. That makes a rival's future increase easier to spot, but you still need to total the whole commitment.7

  • Introductory costAdd every discounted month rather than admiring the first one.
  • Normal monthly priceCheck what you pay when the welcome offer finishes.
  • Any stated annual increaseAdd the pounds-and-pence rise for the months after it takes effect.
  • Exit costA cheap 12-month deal can be expensive if you need to leave early.
  • Useful allowancesA lower price is no bargain if you must buy extra data or international calls every month.

Lebara's simple advantage is that you do not have to build an April increase into the advertised SIM-only price. Confirm the current checkout wording anyway, because offers, allowances and separate rates can change.

Quick answers

Lebara price-rise questions

Does Lebara increase SIM-only prices every April?

No. Lebara currently states that its SIM-only plans have no annual or mid-contract price rises.

Has Lebara ever raised its SIM-only prices?

Lebara's current disclaimer says it has not raised SIM-only plan prices since 2020. That is a statement about its record, not a guarantee that every future plan catalogue will remain unchanged forever.

Can my price rise when the introductory offer ends?

Your payment can increase to the normal renewal price shown when you joined. That is the advertised offer ending, not an annual April rise.

Can Lebara change roaming or international rates?

Yes. Lebara excludes prices or allowances for international minutes, roaming and PAYG rates from its no-annual-rise disclaimer.

Does the policy apply to 12-month SIM-only plans?

Lebara's wording covers SIM-only plans and says there are no mid-contract price rises. Check the checkout for any introductory period and the price that follows it.

What should I do if my payment changes?

Compare it with the order confirmation, check the plan and add-ons in MyLebara, read any notice, then ask Lebara which line item changed.

Could a future Lebara plan cost more?

Yes. No annual rise on your SIM-only plan does not prevent Lebara changing the offers or rates available for future purchases.
