Spain is included in Lebara UK plans

Lebara's Spain page says roaming is included and that you can use UK minutes and texts in Spain and back to the UK.¹ This applies to a UK-issued Lebara SIM on a visit to Spain. It is not guidance for a Spanish Lebara account or for Lebara's separate travel eSIM.

Roaming inclusion does not make every activity unlimited. Your data follows the size of your UK plan up to the roaming ceiling, while calls to countries outside the simple Spain-to-UK route can use another allowance or incur a charge.

The 30GB ceiling

How much Lebara data can you use in Spain?

For a plan under 30GB, Lebara says the full data allowance is available in Spain. For a plan over 30GB, roaming data is capped at 30GB.¹

The examples show how the rule works, not a list of current plans. Your remaining UK allowance also matters. A 20GB plan with 6GB left does not magically refill at passport control.

Watch video quality, photo backup and hotspot use. Maps and messages are fairly modest; automatic uploads and streaming can turn a comfortable allowance into crumbs.

Where the call ends matters

Calls and texts in Spain

Your UK minutes and texts cover use within Spain and back to the UK.¹ Incoming texts are free on Lebara's published Spain PAYG table, but it is still sensible to check the live page if your plan has expired or you have moved onto PAYG.

Calls from Spain to another country are not automatically treated as ordinary UK calls. Lebara publishes a list of EU destinations that can use a plan's international minutes while you are roaming, and Spain appears on that destination list.³ Check both the destination and your remaining international-minute allowance before dialling.

For anything outside the listed routes, use the roaming finder before calling. A messaging app over included data or trusted Wi-Fi may be simpler, provided the person you are contacting uses the same service.

Spain is larger than the mainland

Balearic Islands, Canary Islands and border areas

Lebara's public finder has one Spain destination page. It does not publish separate roaming entries for Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza or the Canary Islands on the page used for this guide. Select Spain in the live finder, then read the welcome text when the phone joins a network after arrival.

Do not use the word "Spain" as a shortcut for every nearby territory. Lebara lists Gibraltar separately in its included group, while Andorra does not appear in the published Roam Like Home list.² Near a border, check the network name before using data. Automatic selection can attach to the strongest signal rather than the cheapest one.

Ferries and cruise ships deserve extra care. A maritime network is not the same thing as a Spanish land network. Use flight mode while at sea unless you have checked the displayed network and its price.

Before the airport queue

Set up your Lebara SIM for Spain

1. Activate and test the SIM in the UK.Lebara says a SIM activated only after departure will not roam abroad.²
2. Open MyLebara.Check that the plan is active and note how much data remains.
3. Download essentials.Save maps, tickets, hotel details and translation packs over Wi-Fi.
4. Pause expensive background jobs.Switch off cloud photo backup, app updates and automatic video downloads.
5. Keep network selection automatic at first.Let the phone register on an available partner network after landing.
6. Enable data roaming on the correct SIM.Dual-SIM phones can quietly send data through the wrong line, so check the mobile-data selection.
7. Test one thing at a time.Open a web page, send one text and make one short call. That separates a data fault from a wider roaming fault.

When the signal refuses its holiday

If Lebara roaming is not working in Spain

1. Use Wi-Fi to check MyLebara.Confirm the plan is active and has data or credit left.
2. Restart the phone.This forces a fresh network registration.
3. Toggle flight mode once.Wait a few seconds before switching it off.
4. Check the correct SIM.Data roaming must be on for the Lebara line, not merely enabled somewhere in the phone.
5. Try manual network selection.If automatic selection fails, test the available Spanish networks one at a time.
6. Check the APN last.Lebara's published manual settings use uk.lebara.mobi, with WAP for both username and password, followed by a restart.²

If the account and phone both look right, contact Lebara over Wi-Fi. Its support page lists 5588 from a Lebara SIM and +44 207 0310791 from another network or outside the UK.⁴

Only if the plan runs short

Do you need a Spain roaming add-on?

Not for ordinary use within your included allowance. Lebara currently displays an 8-day add-on with 4GB, 30 minutes and 30 texts for £5, plus a 15-day option with 9GB, 50 minutes and 50 texts for £10.¹

Add-ons can change, so treat those figures as a prompt to reopen the official Spain page rather than a price promise. Check when validity begins, what remains in your plan and whether the add-on covers the job you need.

A separate travel eSIM may make sense for heavier data use, but it is another product and balance. It does not increase the allowance on your Lebara UK SIM. If you are still picking a UK home plan, check the current referral offer and judge the holiday extras separately.
