Student budget, sensible comparison
Lebara Student Discount: Student Beans vs UNiDAYS vs Referral Offer
Student Beans and UNiDAYS currently advertise the same eye-catching Lebara prices: 5GB for £1.49 a month and 30GB for £2.49 a month. If you can verify your student status, inspect both. If you cannot, the referral offer is the clean alternative at 50% off for three months. The winner is whichever route puts the promised price in the final checkout, not whichever badge looks cleverest.
The useful verdict
The student routes have the lowest listed 5GB and 30GB prices
Student Beans lists three Lebara offers, including 5GB for £1.49 a month and 30GB for £2.49 a month for the first three months. Its cards label the offers for new customers.1
UNiDAYS currently displays the same two headline prices and a separate half-price SIM-only offer for three months.2 On the public numbers, there is no heroic duel between the two student services. They are level. The deciding details sit behind each platform's verification and redemption journey.
Lebara's referral programme gives a referred friend 50% off the first three months of a 30-day or 12-month plan.3 It does not require student status, so it is the practical route for everybody else.
Put the offers on one desk
Student Beans, UNiDAYS and referral compared
| Route | Public offer | Who can use it? | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Student Beans | 5GB at £1.49, 30GB at £2.49, plus a 50% SIM-only listing | Verified students who are new Lebara customers | Unlocked code, eligible plan, contract length and expiry |
| UNiDAYS | 5GB at £1.49, 30GB at £2.49, plus half price for three months | Verified UNiDAYS members | Full terms shown after login and the price at Lebara checkout |
| Referral | 50% off the first three months | A referred friend joining on an eligible 30-day or 12-month plan | The plan's normal price and the discount in the order summary |
The student platforms' public listings are useful shop windows, but not complete contracts. Student Beans gives more conditions on the page; UNiDAYS shows the offer names but keeps the meaningful redemption step behind membership. In both cases, unlock first and believe the final basket.
Route one
Student Beans gives the clearest public detail
The Student Beans page names a 30GB plan at £2.49 for the first three months and a 5GB plan at £1.49 for the same period. Both cards say they are for new customers, while the 5GB card also says the offer cannot be combined with another offer.1
That last condition matters. Do not try to stack a student code on top of a referral discount and then budget around the imaginary result. Pick one route, use its own journey and check the total.
- Sign in and verify.Use your Student Beans account rather than copying a code from a coupon page.
- Open the Lebara offer card.Read the live eligibility, plan and expiry terms attached to that exact offer.
- Follow its redemption route.Use the code or link supplied by Student Beans.
- Inspect the basket.Confirm the introductory price, the number of discounted months and the later renewal price.
Route two
UNiDAYS shows the same headline prices
The public UNiDAYS Lebara page lists 5GB at £1.49 a month, 30GB at £2.49 a month and half price on SIM-only packages for three months.2
Its public view says less about each offer's conditions than Student Beans does. That is not a reason to dismiss it, but it is a reason to log in before choosing. Check whether your preferred plan is eligible, whether it is rolling or annual, and what happens after the cheap opening months.
If both student platforms lead to the same plan at the same price, choose the one whose terms are clearest and whose checkout behaves. Loyalty to a discount portal earns no degree credits.
Route three
The referral offer is simpler and open beyond students
Lebara says a referred friend can choose a 30-day or 12-month plan and receive 50% off the first three months.3 You do not need to prove that you have recently argued with a printer in a university library.
On the two plans with special £1.49 and £2.49 student headlines, the student deal is cheaper than an exact 50% reduction from the standard price. Referral still has two advantages: it does not require student verification, and it applies across the eligible referred-customer range rather than only the two highlighted plans.
Use our Lebara referral route if the student offers do not fit. The link should carry the offer into the Lebara journey, but the final order summary remains the test.
No student account?
Check an eligible plan through the referral route and make sure the 50% introductory price appears before payment.
The useful arithmetic
What the two student prices save over three months
Lebara's standard SIM-only page lists 5GB at £5 a month and 30GB at £10 a month.4 Using those prices, the opening-period totals work like this:
| Plan | Standard three-month cost | Student three-month cost | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5GB | 3 × £5 = £15 | 3 × £1.49 = £4.47 | £10.53 |
| 30GB | 3 × £10 = £30 | 3 × £2.49 = £7.47 | £22.53 |
This comparison covers the opening three months only. It does not make the 30GB plan better for somebody who uses 4GB and lives on campus Wi-Fi. Buy the allowance you need, then compare discounts on that plan.
Choose without the faff
A four-check routine before you pay
- Check that you count as a new customer. The student cards and referral description are aimed at somebody joining, not an existing line looking for a cheaper renewal.
- Match the exact plan.A brilliant 5GB price is still the wrong deal if you need 30GB, and the reverse can waste money just as efficiently.
- Read beyond month three.Note the standard renewal price and whether the plan is 30-day rolling or a 12-month commitment.
- Save the order summary.Keep the page or email showing the introductory price, discount period and plan you bought.

Quick answers
Lebara student discount questions
Does Lebara have a student discount?
Yes. Student Beans and UNiDAYS currently list Lebara student offers, including headline prices of £1.49 for 5GB and £2.49 for 30GB.
Is Student Beans cheaper than UNiDAYS for Lebara?
Not on the public headline prices. Both list 5GB at £1.49 and 30GB at £2.49. Unlock both and compare the live terms and checkout result.
Can I combine a student discount with the referral offer?
Do not plan on it. Student Beans says its 5GB offer cannot be used with another offer. Use one route and confirm its price in the basket.
Can an existing Lebara customer use the student offers?
The current Student Beans cards describe new-customer offers. For a current line, check MyLebara and direct messages from Lebara instead.
Which route should a non-student use?
Use the referral route if you are a genuinely new referred customer and the eligible plan suits you. It offers 50% off the first three months without student verification.
What if the advertised price does not appear?
Do not pay on the promise of a later correction. Check eligibility and the original route, or choose another offer that displays the right total before payment.
