Cheap calls or bottomless scrolling?

Lebara vs VOXI: Which SIM Is Better for You?

Lebara wins on low entry prices, included international minutes and roaming in the EU and India. VOXI is the smarter buy for people who hammer selected social, music and video apps in the UK. Their network claims have also started to part company.

The two-minute answer

These plans solve different expensive habits

Lebara's displayed range starts at £5 for 5GB and £10 for 30GB. Every displayed plan includes international minutes, and the company says its rolling plans have no annual price hikes or credit checks.6

VOXI's current promotion shows 75GB for £12 and 300GB for £20. Both include unlimited data for selected social, music and video apps, although VOXI says the general data boosts shrink when the promotion ends.1

The useful dividing line is behaviour. If you call family abroad, travel in the EU or India, or simply want the cheapest adequate plan, Lebara is the better starting point. If much of your UK mobile data disappears into supported social feeds, music and video, VOXI can save more data than its headline allowance suggests.

Open the current Lebara referral plans and put VOXI's plan page beside them. Ignore the largest promotional number for a moment. Compare what remains useful after the offer changes.

The old comparison needs an update

Do Lebara and VOXI use the same network?

Lebara says it runs on Vodafone.6 VOXI now says it is on "The Nation's Network", which it describes as the combined Vodafone and Three network.17

That means "both use Vodafone" is no longer a complete buying shortcut. VOXI makes a specific claim about access to combined infrastructure. The Lebara page used for this comparison does not make the same claim.

It would still be daft to crown a winner for every postcode. Coverage varies by building, route, phone and network work in your area. Check both coverage maps, then test a rolling SIM before moving an important number. Your sofa has more voting power than a national coverage percentage.

Lebara's full displayed ladder is 5GB for £5, 30GB for £10, 50GB for £15, 100GB for £20, unlimited data for £25 and Unlimited Plus for £30.6 It is particularly strong at the cheap end.

VOXI's promoted £12 and £20 plans carry much larger general allowances for now, and the included app benefits can stretch those allowances further in the UK.1 The catch is easy to miss: promotional general data can revert, while unlimited app use has exclusions.

Do not compare 300GB with 100GB and stop there. Ask how many gigabytes you actually use, which apps consume them, and whether international calls or roaming would cost extra. Unused data is just a large number wearing a tiny party hat.

VOXI's proper party trick

Unlimited social, music and video data

VOXI includes unlimited social data across its plan range. Unlimited Music joins from £12, while Unlimited Video joins from £15.117 For a heavy user of supported apps, this is a genuine advantage rather than decorative confetti.

The word "unlimited" needs its footnotes. VOXI says the benefits cover selected apps and websites in the UK. Third-party adverts, links that open elsewhere, calls made through social apps, subscriptions and some non-music audio can use general data or cost separately. You also need general-purpose data left for the benefits to keep working.117

Lebara is less theatrical here. You get a conventional data pot and use it wherever ordinary mobile data works. That is easier to understand, but it can be poorer value if your phone spends half its life streaming supported VOXI apps.

The contest flips at passport control

Roaming and international calls

Lebara says its rolling plans include roaming in the EU and India, subject to its fair-use rules. It also includes international minutes on every displayed plan, with unlimited minutes on the 100GB and Unlimited Plus tiers.6

VOXI requires a European Roaming Pass for most of its Europe zone. Its official guide applies a 20GB fair-use limit, or your plan allowance if lower. Ireland, the Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway are the exceptions listed without a pass.11

VOXI's unlimited social and video benefits do not remain unlimited while roaming. App use comes out of general data abroad.11 International calls from the UK are also an extra: VOXI advertises 100 minutes for £6.50, with standard charges after that.14

If you regularly call overseas or visit included Lebara destinations, the cheaper monthly figure understates Lebara's lead. A roaming pass and international extra can turn a close comparison into a small monthly subscription collection.

Neither side wants a long goodbye

Both are flexible, but the controls differ

Lebara describes its standard plans as rolling, without contracts, credit checks or annual price hikes.6 VOXI describes its plans as 30-day rolling and says customers can change, pause or cancel at any time.117

That makes a trial relatively painless. Keep your old number where it is, test the new SIM at home, work and along regular journeys, then request a PAC when you are satisfied. Do not port first and investigate the dead spot in your kitchen afterwards.
