Lebara WiFi Calling Not Working? Fixes for iPhone and Android

Start with the symptom. A missing switch, a call that refuses to use WiFi and crackly audio are different faults, so prodding every setting at random merely gives your thumb some exercise.

The short version

Use this order and stop when it works

  1. Confirm Lebara has enabled it on your SIM.Lebara says new joiners are notified when WiFi Calling becomes active.1
  2. Check the exact phone model and software.Support depends on both. A phone can have a WiFi Calling menu yet still lack the right Lebara network profile.
  3. Restart, then switch WiFi Calling off and on.It is dull advice because it often fixes a stale network registration.
  4. Try a second trusted WiFi network.Apple explicitly says not every WiFi network works with the feature.3
  5. Reset network settings only near the end.It is useful, but it also removes saved connections on an iPhone.

Lebara WiFi Calling can carry calls and texts when WiFi is available but the ordinary mobile signal is not.1 The job is to discover which of three links has failed: the SIM, the phone or the WiFi network.

Choose the branch that matches the fault. There is little glory in resetting a phone when the account has not been enabled.

If the option is nowhere to be found

A missing WiFi Calling switch usually points to support or provisioning

First, do not assume the feature appears immediately after inserting a SIM. Lebara says it sends a notification once WiFi Calling has been enabled on the SIM.1 If you joined recently and have had no notification, check the account before dismantling the router.

Next, compare the complete handset model with Lebara's current device list. Lebara says a compatible device is required and warns that an unlisted phone may still make ordinary calls while lacking WiFi Calling or VoLTE.2 Imported variants can differ even when the marketing name looks identical.

Install the latest suitable phone software, restart and look again. Lebara's list gives software requirements alongside supported models. The broad rule is simple: model support without the expected software is only half a ticket.

Dual-SIM trap: Open the mobile settings for the Lebara line. It is surprisingly easy to switch on WiFi Calling for the other SIM and then blame Lebara for ignoring it.

iPhone fix ladder

Fix Lebara WiFi Calling on an iPhone

  1. Open Settings, Mobile, then choose the Lebara line.Tap Wi-Fi Calling and confirm that Wi-Fi Calling on This iPhone is on.
  2. Update iOS.Apple puts current software near the top of its own WiFi Calling checks.3
  3. Check for a network provider update.Connect to WiFi or mobile data, open Settings, General, About and follow any prompt. Apple says these updates can add WiFi Calling support.4
  4. Restart the iPhone.Wait a moment after it reconnects, then make an ordinary test call.
  5. Try different WiFi.Use a trusted home or work network rather than another access point on the same troublesome router.
  6. Turn WiFi Calling off and on.Apple places this after the restart and alternate-network test.
  7. Reset network settings.Use Settings, General, Transfer or Reset iPhone, Reset, Reset Network Settings only after the gentler checks.

That final reset removes saved WiFi networks and passwords, mobile settings, VPN settings and APN settings, so have the details you need before pressing it.8 It does not erase your photos, but it does create admin, and nobody has ever wanted surprise admin.

Samsung, Pixel and other Android phones

Fix Lebara WiFi Calling on Android

Android menu names vary by manufacturer. Search Settings for "Wi-Fi calling" if the route has moved. On Samsung Galaxy phones, Samsung gives two routes: use the Wi-Fi Calling tile in Quick settings, or open Phone, the three-dot menu, Settings and the Wi-Fi Calling switch.7

  1. Choose the Lebara SIM.In dual-SIM settings, confirm the Lebara line is active and selected for calls.
  2. Update Android and the Phone app. Then restart the handset and allow it to reconnect fully.
  3. Toggle WiFi Calling.Turn it off, restart if necessary, turn it back on and place a test call.
  4. Read any notification.Google says Android can switch WiFi Calling off when it detects a problem and may require a restart or operator reactivation.6
  5. Try another WiFi network. If the call works there, the first network deserves the suspicious look.

If the menu is completely absent on a supported, updated Galaxy phone, Samsung advises asking the network provider whether WiFi Calling is available and activated for that device.7 That is more productive than installing a random calling app, which does not activate network WiFi Calling.

One router or every router?

Separate a phone fault from a WiFi fault

Connect to another trusted network and repeat the same call. If WiFi Calling works there, your SIM and handset have passed a useful test. Return to the failing network, complete any browser sign-in page and make sure ordinary internet access works.

Public, hotel, school and workplace networks can have sign-in screens or network rules that get in the way. Apple says not all WiFi networks work with WiFi Calling, while Samsung asks for a strong WiFi connection.37

Works on every other WiFi

Focus on the failing router, internet connection or network policy.

Fails on every WiFi

Return to phone compatibility, software, SIM enablement and account checks.

Connects, but sounds awful

Move nearer the access point, stop a heavy download and compare another network.

A second network is a diagnostic tool, not busywork. It tells you which half of the problem to investigate.

Do not trust the toggle alone

Make a proper test call

  1. Connect to WiFi and confirm the internet works.Open a fresh page rather than relying on the WiFi symbol.
  2. Look for the calling indicator. Its wording varies, but iPhone and Android can show WiFi Calling status when the route is available.
  3. Call an ordinary number.Check two-way audio for at least a minute. Do not call 999 as a test.
  4. Repeat in the room where mobile signal is poor. That is the real job, not producing a handsome icon beside the battery.

If the icon vanishes when mobile reception becomes strong, the phone may simply be preferring the mobile network. Judge the feature by whether calls work where you need them, not whether the badge remains visible all day.

When the sensible fixes are exhausted

What to tell Lebara support

Give support the exact phone model, software version, whether it uses a physical SIM or eSIM, when the SIM was activated, whether the toggle is missing, and whether the fault happens on more than one WiFi network. That is a useful fault report. "It doesn't work" is technically accurate but sends everyone round the houses.

Ask Lebara to confirm that WiFi Calling is provisioned on the SIM and supported for that exact model. If Android says the feature has been disabled, mention the wording of the notification because Google says operator reactivation may be required.6

Quick answers

Lebara WiFi Calling problems

Why has Lebara WiFi Calling disappeared?

Check that you selected the Lebara SIM, install phone and network-provider updates, restart and confirm that Lebara still lists the exact model. If Android disabled the feature after detecting a fault, the notification may say that operator reactivation is needed.

Why is the WiFi Calling option missing on my iPhone?

The Lebara line may not yet be enabled, the iPhone or software may not meet current support requirements, or a network provider settings update may be waiting under Settings, General, About.

Why is it missing on my Samsung phone?

Check both Quick settings and Phone, three-dot menu, Settings. If neither route shows it on a supported, updated handset, ask Lebara whether it is active for the SIM and device.

Why does it work on home WiFi but not public WiFi?

Not every network supports the required connection. Complete any browser sign-in, confirm ordinary internet access and try a different trusted network.

Will resetting network settings delete my iPhone?

It does not erase the whole phone, but Apple says it resets saved WiFi networks and passwords, mobile settings, VPN settings and APN settings. Keep it as a late troubleshooting step.

Should I call 999 to test WiFi Calling?

No. Use an ordinary number for testing. Emergency calls are for real emergencies.
