Does Lebara Offer Data Rollover? What Happens to Unused Data

A clean answer, for once

Lebara UK does not offer data rollover on its plans

Lebara's own help page says remaining allowances are not carried into the following month once a plan expires.¹ That applies even if auto-renew is switched on. Renewal buys the next plan period; it does not tow last month's unused gigabytes behind it like a tiny digital caravan.

You can use the remaining allowance until the expiry date.¹ If there is a healthy chunk left near the end, use it for something you already meant to do, such as downloading maps or updating a device. Do not invent waste merely to make the counter reach zero. The data is already paid for, but your time still has value.

What happens when the plan renews?

Lebara describes its SIM-only plans as 30-day rolling plans. For prepaid plans, it says renewal happens automatically when the SIM has the required balance, unless auto-renew has been disabled.³

1. The current plan reaches its expiry time.You can use its remaining allowance until then.
2. Any unused allowance ends.It is not added to the next plan period.
3. The renewed plan begins with a fresh allowance.Your available data reflects the new plan, not old leftovers plus new data.

If there is not enough balance for automatic renewal, Lebara says it sends an SMS saying the plan will not renew.³ That is a failed renewal, not a rollover opportunity. The old allowance still has an expiry date.

Plan data, add-on data and pay as you go credit

The confusing bit is that "balance" can mean more than one thing in everyday conversation. Your plan allowance is a bundle of data, minutes and texts. Pay as you go credit is money held on the account. They are not the same pot.

That last point is the trapdoor. Cash credit surviving does not mean unused plan data survived. Check the labels in MyLebara before deciding what you have left.

Lebara says you can check plan and credit balances in MyLebara online or in the app, or hear them by dialling 5588.³ Its separate balance guide also lists *#1345# as an on-screen check.⁴

Lebara's terms say customers receive warnings at 80% and 100% of the data allowance.² Those alerts are useful for avoiding an unexpected stop, but the end-of-month leftover is the more interesting number when deciding whether your plan is too large.

Should you move to a smaller allowance?

A few unused gigabytes are not automatically a problem. Mobile use wobbles. The better question is whether a large share is left in several normal months and whether a smaller plan would produce a worthwhile saving after any introductory offer ends.

What if you use all the data before renewal?

Lebara's terms say internet access stops after the plan data is used unless there is positive account credit. They also say customers can buy add-ons or add credit after the allowance is exhausted.²

For a one-off busy month, an add-on may be enough. If the allowance keeps running out, compare a larger plan instead of repeatedly patching the same hole. Remember that unused add-on data expires with the relevant plan, so buying a generous add-on just before expiry can be impressively efficient at wasting money.²

What happens to unused data if you cancel?

Turning off auto-renew stops the next plan purchase. Lebara says you can still use the current allowance until its expiry date.¹ Cancelling early does not create a refund or a data bank in the official guidance used here. Plan what you need before expiry, then let the allowance end normally.
